The Sandisk Portable SSD is great for around the home. I would not trust the build quality on extreme trips though. If you plan on taking it outside the house, I would consider getting the Extreme instead. If you’d like to buy one for yourself, you can check out the link below to Amazon.

Sandisk Portable SSD: First Impressions
I needed to buy an SSD that I could take with me anywhere. I always back up my data to keep it safe and I have one I leave at home. But if I wanted to work in a coffee shop or in a studio then I was always worried about losing it. So I bought an extra SSD, one I could take with me anywhere, leaving my main one at home. I picked up the Sandisk Portable SSD, I always used Sandisk SD cards for my photography, so I had a lot of faith in the SSD.
Design
I have to admit, when it arrived initially I was disappointed. The material feels a bit flimsy and cheap, they claim it has a two-metre drop protection, but I wouldn’t be confident in testing that. Given the choice, for the standard SSD range I do prefer Samsung’s offering of the T7. Mostly for the premium feel with the metal. It just feels more secure and there isn’t a huge difference in the price.
Transfer Speeds
At 520 MB/s the Sandisk Portable SSD will be more than capable of backing up your holiday adventures. It will take only a couple of minutes to back up even the largest of SD cards
Capacity
The Sandisk Portable SSD comes in three sizes, 480GB, 1TB and 2TB. I use the 1TB but could easily fill the 2TB version. Pick based on your usage, prices of SSDs can increase massively depending on the size, but as a rule of thumb I always say get more than you think you need.
Usage
SanDisk SSDs are easy to use, simply plug in and they instantly connect. No required software has to be installed or apps downloaded. You can add password protection on the SSD, but that requires software downloads, and then to access it again you must use devices with the same software downloaded.
Sandisk Portable SSD: Final Thoughts
This is a great SSD for everyday use. I think for carrying in a laptop bag or at home to back everything up, The Sandisk Portable SSD would be a great choice. But if you take it outside the house more or on your adventures, for the peace of mind I would upgrade to the Sandisk Extreme SSD.
