City adventures
Whenever you arrive in a city, it can often be overwhelming and a lot to take in. The skyscrapers towering above can be daunting, especially if up until this point you’ve just been travelling through small towns and country roads. So what better way of getting your bearings with a bird’s eye view, and make a visit to the Sydney Tower Eye. Located in Westfield Shopping centre, the Sydney Tower Eye is 309m tall and gives 360° views of Sydney that are unrivalled.
Finding the Sydney Tower Eye
It did take a bit of a search to find the entrance. Despite being easy to see on Sydney’s skyline. As soon as I stepped foot into the Westfield shopping centre I got lost. After more than a few wrong turns I did eventually uncover the entrance. I spoke to the woman on reception who informed me I had a choice of two options, I could either head to dinner or head to the bar.
Not feeling that hungry I opted for the bar instead. I arrived fairly early in the evening so it was quiet, but I was greeted at the exit to the lift and escorted to a small table facing out of the window.
Dinner with a view
I was near the end of my Australian tour, Sydney would be my final stop. Budget worries had gone firmly out of the window and I was focused on making the most of my remaining time. I ordered my favourite vodka (Grey Goose) and coke, as well as a few sliders to snack on, and just sat watching the world go by. After a full rotation, I pulled out my notebook and started what had become my ritual note taking. I timed my visit perfectly, it was a clear evening and the sky was a burnt orange in the sunset.
I have frequently said this on my blog, but Australia is such a beautiful country. It’s such a diverse country, with each state feeling like its own country. I genuinely believed that once I had visited one city, I could expect the exact same experience for the others. But they each have had their own personalities and have so much to offer. You can see all of the icons of Sydney from here, with beautiful views of the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
My Final Thoughts on Sydney
For those who want a bit of adventure, you can strap up and take a walk on the wild side as you take a tour on the outside of the tower. I didn’t know this was possible until after I had left, so that has added onto an already long list of reasons for me to return to Sydney. However, if you fancy a bit of luxury you can enjoy the views as you sip on a cocktail or tuck into a meal.
After enjoying my sliders and checking in on my family at home, I opted to switch off my social media and just relax. Allowing me to fully appreciate the views from the Sydney Tower Eye.
